  • The trade balance in April 2026 presented a deficit of EUR 2,156 mn compared to a deficit of EUR 2,881mn in April 2025, recording a drop of 25.2%. The total value of imports amounted to EUR 7,353.2mn (+9.6% y-o-y) while the total value of exports was EUR 5,197.2mn (+35.7% y-o-y). The deficit of the trade balance, for the 4-month period from January to April 2026 amounted to EUR 10,439.3 mn in comparison with EUR 11,343.1 mn for the corresponding period of the year 2026, recording a drop of 8%.

  • Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis, announced that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has decided to appoint Giorgos Kotsiras as Alternate Minister of Transport, replacing Konstantinos Kyrynakis. Dimitris Markopoulos has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister of National Economy and Finance, with responsibility for tax policy, while Marilena Soukouli has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Environment and Energy. Tasos Chatzivasiliou has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. According to the press Mitsotakis carried out the mini reshuffle, as speculation grows over a possible snap election in the autumn.

  • Motor Oil announced that it has initiated a series of investor meetings beginning on June 8, 2026. Subject to market conditions, the company is considering an offering of senior unsecured notes with a five-year tenor in an aggregate principal amount of up to EUR 400 mn. Motor Oil intends to use the net proceeds from the offering, together with cash on hand, to redeem in full its EUR 400 mn 2.125% senior notes due in 2026.

CYPRUS

  • Cyprus and the Kyrgyz Republic have signed an agreement for the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of tax evasion and avoidance. The signing and entry into force of the agreement mark an important step toward further strengthening bilateral economic, trade, and investment relations between Cyprus and Kyrgyzstan. The agreement was signed by Cyprus’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Konstantinos Kombos, and the Kyrgyz Republic’s Minister of Economy and Commerce, Mr. Bakyt Sydykov.
