  • A USD 9 bn agreement for the supply of 1.5 bn cubic metres of U.S. natural gas annually from the United States, via Greece, to Albania and Bosnia starting in 2030 was announced yesterday by Atlantic See, a joint venture between DEPA and the Aktor Group. The announcement was made at a press conference attended by Greek Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou and U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle.
In his remarks, Papastavrou emphasized that the Vertical Gas Corridor, through which natural gas will be supplied to countries across the region via Greece, is a long-term strategic infrastructure project capable of significantly enhancing regional energy security.
Guilfoyle noted that the agreement strengthens cooperation between Greece and the United States and extends beyond its commercial dimension, serving as a practical contribution to energy security. She added that the deal reinforces Greece’s role as a regional energy hub and benefits both the United States and the countries of the region by providing greater energy diversification, resilience, and security of supply.
