The trade balance in June 2025 presented a deficit of EUR 3,137.6mn compared to a deficit of EUR 2,355.5mn in June 2024, recording an increase of 33.2%. The total value of imports amounted to EUR 7,080.6mn (6.4% y-o-y) while the total value of exports was EUR 3,943 mn (-8.3% y-o-y). The deficit of the trade balance, for the 6-month period from January to June 2025 amounted to EUR 16,543.5mn in comparison with EUR 16,761.8 mn for the corresponding period of the year 2024, recording a decrease of 4.9%. State debt to hospital suppliers, particularly for medical and technological equipment, reached €1.6 billion in May and dropped only marginally to EUR 1.599 bn in June. In the same month, the European Court of Justice ruled that Greece had violated an EU directive on payment delays in commercial transactions. The court found that the Greek state was failing to comply with the directive’s 60-day payment deadline.
