• During a press conference in Nicosia, IMF mission chief for Cyprus, Alex Pienkowski, highlighted the remarkable growth of the Cypriot economy in recent years. Despite Cyprus exhibiting one of the highest growth rates in the euro area, driven by foreign investment, a robust tourism sector, and a booming Iinformation and Communication Technology industry, signs of moderate economic overheating are evident. Additionally, the IMF stated that, according to the plan for the General Healthcare System, they do not consider it a future fiscal risk. The organization also announced its support for the planned tax reform and noted that the increase in corporate tax is not expected to negatively impact the country’s competitiveness. However, the IMF expressed concerns about the real estate sector, which remains a systemic risk requiring close monitoring. According to the IMF, rising oil prices and further increases in government wages could create inflationary pressure.
