Macro/Political:
- Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The two PMs discussed regional developments, energy cooperation, and preparations for a new trilateral summit involving Greece, Cyprus, and Israel, according to a post by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. Netanyahu stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Greece and Israel for regional stability and welcomed Greece’s decision to acquire Israeli defence systems.

- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has struck a conciliatory note on relations with Greece, saying that Turkey is not Greece’s enemy but its neighbour and NATO ally. Erdogan added that what concerns him is Turkey’s rights and security, as well as maintaining peace and tranquillity in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Macro/Political:
- Finance Minister Makis Keravnos yesterday presented the 2027 Budget to President of the Parliament Annita Demetriou. Presenting the budget, Keravnos stated that the new budget creates surpluses, supports economic growth and reduces public debt. More specifically, the fiscal surplus is expected to reach 4% of GDP, while public debt is expected to stand at 45.2% of GDP by the end of the year. At the same time, economic growth is expected to reach 2.9%, inflation is projected at 2.5%, and unemployment at 2.5%.

- President Christodoulides met on Thursday in New York with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, saying that the UN chief is considering a three-way meeting, noting though that there must also be a response from the Turkish Cypriot side.
Speaking to journalists, the president expressed satisfaction with the meeting he had with Guterres and said that the new ideas he submitted on issues of substance, methodology, and confidence building measures were positively received by the UN Secretary General.
