  • In December 2025, the Athens International airport’s passenger traffic amounted to 2.308 million, 8.4% higher than December 2024. During 2025, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 33.99 mn, above the 2024 levels by 6.7%.

  • Relations between the government and farmers have reached a breaking point as the holiday period has ended, yet roadblocks remain in place across the country. The government is expected to outline support measures today, and if farmers continue to refuse dialogue and protests persist, authorities will proceed with Plan B, which is expected to include fines starting Thursday for tractors obstructing traffic. More specifically, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis stated that the government represents all farmers, not just the minority involved in the blockades and mobilizations, and made it clear that the announced measures are final and no additional measures will be introduced.

  • The General Directorate of Environmental Policy of the Ministry of Environment and Energy has approved the environmental terms for the functional unification, upgrading, and modernization of the Pallini Beach Hotel, Athos Palace, and Theophano Imperial hotels, all of which belong to the SANI/IKOS Group, as well as their operation as a single main tourist accommodation with a capacity of 2,217 beds and a 5-star rating in Kallithea, Halkidiki. The total investment for the Group is expected to exceed EUR 400 mn.

  • European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European Council President Antonio Costa, and other leaders and government representatives from across Europe and the region will attend the opening ceremony of Cyprus’ EU Council Presidency this evening at the Cyprus Theatre Organisation’s central stage in Nicosia. Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides described the occasion as a moment of pride for Cyprus. He also acknowledged the many challenges ahead and expressed absolute certainty that, as the Cypriot Presidency, they will fulfil this institutional responsibility to the EU.
