GREECE

Macro/Political:

  • Greece’s Manufacturing PMI stood at 53.3 in October, comfortably above the critical 50.0 level, but down from 54.0 in September, signalling the weakest rate of growth since May. Greece’s manufacturing sector recorded a further improvement in operating conditions in October, with production, new orders and employment all increasing compared to September, amid reports of stronger market demand. However, the impact of disruptions in the Middle East on the global economy continued to be felt, with supply chains remaining under pressure, while prices continued to rise due to higher energy, fuel and transportation costs. Furthermore, business confidence in the outlook deteriorated, falling to a five-month low.
