Greece’s current account deficit stood at EUR 3.9bn

  • In December 2025, the current account deficit increased by EUR 129.2mn (y-o-y) and stood at EUR 3.9bn, due to a deterioration chiefly in the balance of goods and, to a lesser extent, in the secondary income account and in the balance of services, while the primary income account improved. In January-December 2025, the current account deficit fell by EUR 2.8 bn (y-o-y) and stood at EUR 14.1bn.

  • Greek Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou is visiting Washington this week for meetings aimed at strengthening energy cooperation between the United States and Greece. The visit follows agreements signed at the P-TEC conference and focuses on deepening cooperation in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and enhancing infrastructure to improve energy security in Southeast Europe.
