• The EU Commission made the fifth payment to Greece under its Recovery and Resilience, amounting to EUR 3.13 billion (excluding pre-financing), of which EUR 1.35 billion is in the form of grants and EUR 1.78 billion in loans. As with all Member States, payments under the Recovery and Resilience Facility are conditional on the effective implementation of the investments and reforms outlined in the country’s recovery plan.

• Data released by Eurostat showed that the annual inflation in Greece is expected to be 2.7% in April from 3.1% in March 2025.

• Preliminary data released by CyStat showed that the General Government fiscal balance for the period of January – March 2025 presented a surplus of EUR 580.6mn (1,6% of GDP) compared to a surplus of EUR 575.7mn (1.7% of GDP) in the same period of 2024. Primary balance recorded a surplus of EUR 653.5mn versus a surplus of EUR 647.3mn in the corresponding period of 2024. During Jan- March 2025 total expenditure increased by EUR 209.5mn (+7.4%) to EUR 3,042.4mn from EUR 2,832.9mn in the corresponding period of 2024. Total revenue increased by EUR 214,5mn (+6.3%) to EUR 3,623mn compared to EUR 3,408.5mn in the same period of 2024.

• Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon to discuss bilateral cooperation, regional issues, and initiatives including trilateral partnerships. Mr. Netanyahu highlighted the close relations between Cyprus and Israel, stressing shared democratic values and interests, the importance of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), and the Cyprus-Greece-Israel trilateral cooperation, expressing interest in hosting a trilateral summit. President Christodoulides affirmed Cyprus as a reliable neighbour and emphasized the need for deeper cooperation in defence, intelligence exchange, trade, and tourism.
• The Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade (except of motor vehicles) for March 2025 increased by 5.6% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. For the same month, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade increased by 5.6% compared to the corresponding month of previous year.

• Data released by Eurostat showed that the annual inflation in Cyprus is expected to be 1.3% in April from 2.1% in March 2025.

• In January – April 2025, the total property sales in Cyprus amounted to 5541 compared to 4963 in the corresponding period of 2024, recording an increase of 11.6%.
