Mitsotakis-Macron Meeting Focuses on GSI

• Yesterday, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. During their meeting, the two leaders discussed recent developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, as well as progress on the implementation of the Greece-Cyprus electricity interconnection. Finally, the Greek PM also informed the French President about the results of the trilateral meeting between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, which took place the previous day in El Alamein.

• Former Greece Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, in his speech yesterday, said that his target is not necessarily a specific percentage in the upcoming elections, but rather to strategically and electorally defeat the government of Mr Mitsotakis. Furthermore, interestingly, Tsipras kept the tone low against the other opposition alliance, PASOK, leaving room for cooperation and co-governance of the country if they are successful after the elections. Finally, Tsipras also mentioned former Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, saying that he wishes him all the best and noting that, although their differences are huge, he is not going to be the one to criticise his return to the political scene.
