Greece posted a primary budget surplus of EUR 4.48bn

Macro/Political:

  • Preliminary data released by the MoF showed that the State Budget balance on a modified cash basis for January – June 2026 presented a deficit of EUR 941mn, against a target of a deficit of EUR 3,136mn and a deficit of EUR 564mn for the same period of 2025. The State Budget Primary Balance amounted to a surplus of EUR 4,480mn, against the primary surplus target of EUR 1,953mn and a primary surplus of EUR 4,519mn in the same period of last year. It is noted that an amount of EUR 81mn which refers to the time differentiation of payments for defence programs, an amount of EUR 555mn relating to the time differentiations of PIB payments and an amount of 1,597 million Euros relating to time differentiation of transfers to General Government entities, which do not affect the General Government’s result in fiscal terms.
    For January – June 2026, State Budget net revenues amounted to EUR 35,955mn, showing an increase of EUR 1,063mn. State Budget expenditures amounted to EUR 36,936 mn , EUR 1,132mn lower than the target.

  • The turnover for the enterprises of the economy as a whole in May 2026 amounted to EUR 36.06 bn recording an increase of 6.9% (y-o-y).

  • Bally’s Intralot announced that its subsidiary has signed a seven-year contract extension, through November 2034, with Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI). The agreement supports PLI’s continued operation of the Irish National Lottery for the remainder of its license period and reinforces Bally’s Intralot’s role as a trusted technology and services partner.
