  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday predicted strong bilateral ties between Kyiv and Nicosia, adding that Cyprus has stood by Ukraine’s side since the start of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union. French President Emmanuel Macron also voiced strong support for Cyprus, stating that France “loves” Cyprus during his joint press conference with President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace. Macron also added that France’s role is to stand by Cyprus’ side in practice during times of tension. He further highlighted the importance of the joint visit to the island last month alongside Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, immediately after the outbreak of the war in the Middle East, noting that he and Mitsotakis had reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with the country.
