- Yesterday, the President of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, completed his meetings with the country’s largest trade unions regarding the dispute that has arisen between the unions and the employers’ organizations over the CoLA. According to the government spokesman, during yesterday’s meeting the parties reaffirmed their positions on the framework of convergences for CoLA, as it had been shaped during Friday’s meeting with the employers’ organizations and the competent ministers. As already announced by the employers’ and trade union organizations, on Wednesday afternoon they will brief their members and make their final decisions. According to StockWatch, If on Wednesday the government’s proposed agreement framework is adopted by the collective bodies of both sides, it is expected that, by Friday at the latest, the framework agreement will have been signed and finalized by both parties, after which the government will announce the definitive agreement on the CoLA system.
