• The Overall Industrial Production Index in January 2025 recorded an increase of 2% (y-o-y). The Overall IPI in January 2024 increased by 10.3%(y-o-y).The seasonally adjusted Overall Industrial Production Index in January 2025 recorded a decrease of 0.8% compared with December 2024 (m-o-m).

• The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) remained unchanged (m-o-m) and increased by 3% (y-o-y).

• Provisional data released by ELSTAT showed that in January 2025 the trade balance was in deficit of EUR 2,809.3mn compared to a deficit of EUR 2,589mn in January 2024,(8.5% y-o-y). Total imports of goods amounted to EUR 6,906.4mn in January 2025(4.7% y-o-y) while total exports were EUR 4,097.1mn (2.2% y-o-y).

• Preliminary data released by CyStat showed that the General Government fiscal balance for January 2025 indicate a surplus of EUR 566.9mn (1,6% of GDP) compared to a surplus of EUR 476.5mn (1,4% of GDP) in January 2025. Primary balance recorded a surplus of EUR 602.4mn versus a surplus of EUR 511.4mn in January 2024. During January 2025 total expenditure increased by EUR 103.9mn (+11.8%) to EUR 988mn from EUR 884.1mn in January 2024. Total revenue increased by EUR 194.3mn (+14.3%) to EUR 1,554.9mn compared to EUR 1,360.6mn in January 2024.
